Apigenin – Powerful Anti-Oxidant and Anti-Carcinogen

Apigenin

Recent studies have shown that naturally occurring plant flavone called APIGENIN has ability to possess remarkable anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and anti-carcinogenic properties. In addition foods high in apigenin can boost cancer treatments or even prevent cancer (breast, skin, thyroid, colon and leukemia).

Parsley contains the highest amount of apigenin. You can find apigenin also in celery, artichoke, chamomile tea, apples, cherries, red wine, cilantro, licorice, spearmint, basil, oregano as well as terragon. In addition listed sources also contain other anti-oxidants, vitamins and fiber.

Anti-oxidants and vitamins have ability to neutralize free radical.

Free radicals cause inflammation and damage to the cells. Therefore eat a rainbow of different colors of vegetable and fruits. Furthermore each color represents a certain vitamin. Each vitamin provides a specific function. In order to effectively resist free radical damage, it is important to get as many vitamins on daily basis as possible.

Vitamins fall into two categories: water and fat-soluble vitamins. Water soluble vitamins need to be consumed on daily basis because we can not store them. Water soluble vitamins are C and B-complex. Fat-soluble vitamins are stored in the body. Those include vitamin A, D, E and K.

In conclusion in order to get maximum benefits from your green leaves, vegetables and fresh fruits, consume them fresh and unprocessed.

Add fresh parsley on daily basis to your salad or eat it by itself with your meal.

You can also try this Mediterranean salad based on the following ingredients:
