AHAs that will leave your skin saying “Aha!’

In the fall and winter you are noticing your skin is not looking its best due to some discoloration from your summer hue fading unevenly or dryness due to temperature change. What should you do to get smoother and more even-looking skin?

Reach for the exfoliation brush? Use a gritty scrub? Get a microdermabrasion treatment? While these methods may seem appealing, they can be quite damaging to the skin. Harsh exfoliation methods strip away an acid mantle, skin’s protective barrier. With the compromised acid mantle, the skin is more prone to dryness, breakouts, and accelerated aging process. So, what should you do instead?

Alpha hydroxy acids are the perfect solution here (along with topical antioxidants).

They help to break down the links between the cells, therefore encouraging and speeding up the normal shedding process. They also help to restructure the top layer of the epidermis, so they will help your skin become much smoother. Many AHAs inhibit melanin production as well, thereby helping to brighten and even out the skin tone.
The AHAs that will leave you saying “Aha!” are: lactic, asiatic and mandelic found in Environ Revival Masque. These amazing acids have brightening benefits, hydrating benefits, can lift and firm the skin, and make the skin much smoother. It is amazing how quickly we can see improvements in our clients’ skin when AHAs are combined with the topical vitamin A use. The tone is healthier and brighter, the texture is smoother, and there is even less congestion. We also notice breakouts disappear much faster when we introduce AHAs to the at home regimen.

Because AHAs make the skin more photo-sensitive, use them at night only. Use them as booster products, meaning – more so in the fall and winter and less frequently in the spring and summer.

As always, please come see us, as we would love to assist you in pairing you up with the perfect match for you specific skin type and condition.
