Electro-Sonic DF Mobile – Two physical delivery technologies in one device
The Electro-Sonic DF Mobile is a fundamentally different category of instrument from the CIT rollers. Where CIT creates mechanical channels by briefly perforating the stratum corneum, the DF Mobile uses two distinct biophysical technologies — sonophoresis and iontophoresis — that work without any physical penetration. Understanding what each technology does explains why their combination is clinically significant.
Sonophoresis (sound waves)
Sonophoresis uses low-frequency ultrasound to temporarily disrupt the lamellar lipid bilayers of the stratum corneum — the “mortar” between the corneocyte “bricks” that provides the primary barrier to molecular diffusion. When these lipid structures are temporarily disordered by ultrasonic vibration, hydrophilic and lipophilic molecules can diffuse through the barrier at significantly higher rates than normal. The effect is transient, but the absorption window is sufficient for meaningful active ingredient delivery. Sonophoresis is most effective for larger molecules like hyaluronic acid and certain peptides that struggle to penetrate through the stratum corneum lipid matrix under normal conditions.
Iontophoresis (low-level electrical current)
Iontophoresis uses a mild electrical current to drive charged molecules across the skin’s barrier using electrostatic repulsion — the same technology used clinically to deliver medication transdermally in medical settings. For skincare, it is particularly effective at driving water-soluble, ionically charged actives — including certain vitamin C forms, amino acids, and ionizable peptides — deeper into the skin than passive diffusion or sonophoresis alone achieves.
The Electro-Sonic DF Mobile combination
The device name reflects its dual modality: Deep Fusion. Sonophoresis addresses lipid-phase penetration (disrupting the barrier for oil-soluble actives like vitamin A and E) while iontophoresis addresses aqueous-phase penetration (driving water-soluble actives). This combination is more comprehensive than either technology alone and more comprehensive than CIT alone — making the DF Mobile the most powerful at-home active ingredient delivery tool in the Environ range.
The DF Mobile should be used with below mentioned targeted serums from Environ’s Focus Care range to optimize results in the following areas:
- Frown lines
- Lines and wrinkles around the eyes
- Upper lip lines
- Hyper-pigmented marks (due to photo-damage)
- Double chin
- Minor scars

Electro-Sonic DF Mobile pairing and protocol notes
The Electro-Sonic DF Mobile is for committed Environ users who want the maximum amplification of their product routine — those who have been using the Roll-CIT system consistently and want a complementary penetration technology, or those who prefer a no-needling approach. It is the highest-investment instrument in the range and represents a professional-grade delivery technology adapted for home use.
How to use
Apply your chosen Environ serum or moisturiser to clean, toned skin. Place the device head against the skin and move slowly across the face and neck in overlapping passes, following the instructions provided in the device guide. The device operates in two modes corresponding to its two technologies — follow the Environ protocol for combining both modes within a session. Clean the device head with Cleaning Solution after each use.
Follow all device guide instructions. Do not use over active skin conditions, broken skin, or areas of active inflammation. Not suitable during pregnancy or for those with pacemakers or metal implants.
Contraindications
This technology is not for everyone and is contraindicated for the following conditions:
- Pacemakers, defibrillators and electronic implants of all kids
- Pregnant or lactating women
- Epilepsy or other neurological conditions
- Open cuts & abrasions in the treatment area
- Cold sores (herpes simplex type I) and ulcers
- Metallic implants, pins or excessive dental fillings of the face
- Botox and dermal fillers: a 2-week waiting period is recommended to avoid affecting their placement
- Sunburned skin
- Sufferers of angina/arrthymia or other cardiac/circulatory conditions
- Hemophilia
- Patients who have a history of stroke
- Cancer patients or those undergoing radiotherapy
