Environ Cosmetic Roll-CIT – The single most impactful addition to an Environ vitamin A routine
If you are using Environ’s vitamin A products twice daily and not using a CIT roller in the evening, the active ingredients in those products are performing at a fraction of their potential. The stratum corneum — between 10 and 20 cell layers thick depending on the area of the face — is the primary barrier to transdermal delivery. At rest, it limits the penetration of even well-formulated active ingredients to the outermost layers of the skin. The Cosmetic Roll-CIT changes this directly.
By rolling 108 ultra-fine 0.1mm stainless steel needles across the skin’s surface, the Roll-CIT creates thousands of microscopic channels that temporarily bypass the stratum corneum’s diffusion barrier. For the 2–4 hours following CIT application, the skin’s permeability to active ingredients is substantially increased — allowing vitamin A, vitamin C, peptides, and other actives to reach the living cells of the viable epidermis and upper dermis where retinoid receptors, fibroblasts, and keratinocytes can respond to them.
This is not a marginal improvement. It is the difference between topical skincare acting at the surface and acting at the cellular level where skin biology actually changes.
The clinical mechanism: transdermal penetration enhancement
The stratum corneum’s barrier function depends on a “brick and mortar” architecture of densely packed corneocytes (bricks) embedded in a lamellar lipid matrix (mortar). This architecture is highly effective at limiting molecular penetration — which is its biological function. 0.1mm needles pass through the corneocyte layer and create temporary aqueous channels that allow molecules to bypass this architecture. The channels close within hours, which is why active ingredients must be applied immediately after rolling.
Roll-CIT vs Focus-CIT: when to use each
The Roll-CIT covers broad areas — the full face, forehead, cheeks, chin, and neck — efficiently and systematically. Use it for your vitamin A moisturiser, Youth EssentiA serums, peptide serums, and any treatment product applied across the full face. The Focus-CIT is used for targeted stamp application to the periorbital area, upper lip, and other small zones.
Environ Cosmetic Roll-CIT pairing
The Cosmetic Roll-CIT is for any Environ user who has established their vitamin A routine — typically after 8–12 weeks of consistent AVST or Youth EssentiA use, once the skin has adapted and is ready for amplified active delivery. It is appropriate for all skin types. Those with reactive or rosacea-prone skin should introduce CIT cautiously — begin 1–2 evenings per week and increase gradually while monitoring for irritation.
How to use
In the evening, cleanse and tone as usual. Apply Cleaning Solution to the Roll-CIT and allow to dry. On dry skin, roll across each area of the face and neck in horizontal, vertical, and diagonal directions with light pressure. Apply Environ treatment serums and vitamin A moisturiser immediately after. Clean the device with Cleaning Solution after each use. Replace every 3–4 months. Use 3–5 evenings per week.
Do not use on active acne lesions, open wounds, broken skin, active rosacea flares, eczema, or sunburned skin.
