Vitamin C is one of the most clinically validated topical actives for skin brightening and antioxidant protection — but its efficacy is entirely dependent on the form used and its stability in the formula. Ascorbic acid (the pure form of vitamin C) is highly active but rapidly oxidizes on contact with air, light, and skin pH, losing potency quickly in most formulations and producing potential irritation at the concentrations needed for clinical effect.

Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate is a lipid-soluble esterified vitamin C that resolves both problems. Being lipid-soluble, it penetrates through the stratum corneum’s lipid matrix more efficiently than water-soluble vitamin C forms — reaching the deeper epidermal layers where melanin is synthesized and where antioxidant protection against UV-generated free radicals is most needed. And it converts to active ascorbic acid within the skin itself, delivering the full clinical benefit of vitamin C at the cellular level without the instability or irritation risk of topical ascorbic acid.

Intense C-Boost Mela-Even Cream Key Ingredients and Their Mechanisms

How to use Intense C-Boost Mela-Even Cream

As part of the Radiance+ protocol: Apply after the Mela-Prep Lotion and after the Mela-Fade Serum A+B has absorbed, to the same pigmented areas (localized damage) or across the full face (extensive or diffuse damage). Allow to absorb, then apply your recommended Environ vitamin A moisturiser. Use morning and evening, followed by broad-spectrum sunscreen in the morning.

As a standalone brightening treatment: Apply to the full face over your Environ’s vitamin A serum, or mix a small amount into it before applying. Use morning and/or evening.

Daily broad-spectrum sun protection is essential — UV exposure reverses brightening progress by continuing to stimulate melanin production.
