Most toners in skincare are pH-balancing and hydrating — important but passive steps. The Vita-Peptide Toner takes a more active position: it delivers two ingredients with genuine, well-documented clinical mechanisms at the toning stage, before any serum or moisturiser has been applied. This is clinically meaningful because the toner contacts freshly cleansed skin that is in an optimal state for active ingredient absorption.
Key ingredients
Palmitoyl Oligopeptide and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 (Matrixyl 3000®): The original, extensively studied Matrixyl peptide complex. Palmitoyl Oligopeptide mimics a collagen breakdown fragment that signals fibroblasts to upregulate collagen synthesis. Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 suppresses IL-6 signalling, which activates the matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) responsible for collagen degradation. Together they provide both pro-synthesis and anti-degradation effects on the dermal collagen matrix — and doing so at the toning stage, before the serum, means the skin’s collagen-signalling response is primed before the vitamin A and additional peptides from the serum are applied.
Niacinamide (Vitamin B3): In this formula, niacinamide contributes three distinct effects: anti-inflammatory action via NFκB suppression; support for ceramide synthesis, which improves barrier function; and inhibition of melanosome transfer, which reduces uneven pigmentation over time. For mature skin managing diffuse UV pigmentation or post-inflammatory marks, this daily niacinamide delivery at the toning step is a meaningful addition to the protocol.
Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water: A natural astringent with antioxidant properties from its proanthocyanidin content. Provides mild pore-refining action and environmental antioxidant protection without the irritation of high-alcohol astringents.
Sorbitol and Glycerin: Humectants that maintain the skin’s hydration state post-cleansing, ensuring the toner is conditioning rather than drying.
Who it’s for
The Vita-Peptide Toner is designed specifically for use within the Youth EssentiA serum system and is appropriate for all skin types except problematic (blemish-prone) skin, where the Botanical Infused Sebu-Tone Clarifier from the Clarity+ range is more appropriate. It is particularly well-suited for those in their late 30s, perimenopause and beyond managing the combined effects of collagen loss, UV pigmentation, and declining barrier function.
How to use
After cleansing, apply to a cotton pad and wipe gently over the face and neck. Allow to dry briefly, then apply your recommended Youth EssentiA Vita-Peptide Serum (Step 1–4 Plus), followed by the corresponding Vita-Antioxidant Defence Crème. Use morning and evening.
